ITEMS How to increase your watch time on YouTube?

As the owner of a YouTube channel , it is essential for you to improve over time, both in terms of the quality of your videos and the topics covered on your channel.

To achieve this, there are several techniques, including looking at the statistics of your competitors' videos for inspiration – obviously, not to copy!

In this article, I will show you the three free tools to see the statistics of other people's videos, how to get inspired by these statistics and what information to take to create your own videos.

Let's start with Social Blade, the first tool you can use to see the statistics of a video..

The first source of information for YouTube video statistics is Social Blade. It's a free tool that gives you a ton of interesting information about any YouTube channel. To use Social Blade, you go to socialblade.com  : on this interface, you can enter the name of the channel you want to watch.

You will then see some interesting information about this channel such as the number of videos it has. You will also see the number of subscribers, total views, and when the channel was created.

Then, going down, you will see the number of subscribers who signed up per day on this channel, the number of views it gets per day, and the estimated revenue. Revenue has more to do with monetization, so that's not really what you're going to care about.

You can also see if the channel is growing, for example over the last 30 days, and also the number of subscribers over the last 30 days.

To have information on the videos, you open the “ User Videos ” tab and you will see the last 50 videos that have been published with the number of views and the number of comments. That's quite interesting because it already allows you to identify video ideas without having to consult each video on the channel directly.

You directly have a list of all video topics and the corresponding number of views. What you can also do is go to the “ 50 most Viewed Videos ” tab which will show you the 50 most popular videos on the channel. In the case of this channel, you can see that there are not necessarily very recent videos that appear in this list.

This shows that on YouTube, you have to be patient and that the videos, little by little, will start to bring you traffic. But it's not abnormal that at the beginning, you don't have a lot of views because it can sometimes take 1 or 2 years for a video to really start getting good scores.

Social Blade also allows you to have a prediction of the evolution of your channel. Open the “ Future Projections ” tab and enter the name of your YouTube channel. Social Blade displays, based on your current progress, when you will pass the milestone of 10,000 subscribers or 100,000 subscribers.

vidIQ is a platform that also allows you to have information on a YouTube channel. It is a tool that is almost similar to Social Blade.

The advantage of vidlQ is that you can see the tags that are used on the video. When you are on the video you want to spy on, the application opens a panel on the right where you can have all the important information about the video.

Tags allow you to tell YouTube's algorithms the true context of your video. This is one of the best ways to optimize your videos on YouTube.

Now let's move on to the third tool that I use to get information about a YouTube video: it's TubeBuddy.

3. TubeBuddy

By using TubeBuddy , you will see that it also gives a little more precise information about a YouTube video. You will directly have the number of comments as well as statistics on social networks such as mentions on Twitter.

It also allows you to potentially come into contact with people who are interested in your subject. What you'll see for example are people who have retweeted the video. We can deduce that, certainly, these are people who are interested in all that, so it allows you to get in touch with them.

A little below, you will have statistics on the channel and tags. If you click the “Tags” button, you can see which searches the video appears on first.

These tags will also give you an idea of the words you can use to give a title to your video. And what's also nice is that you can see the volume of searches for a keyword.

You also have information on the optimization quality of competing videos. These are quite interesting tools that you can use to improve your SEO.

What you can also do is compare for example a specific video with another video. This allows you to identify where you have the best or worst performance, so it will give you an idea of what you can improve.

The ideal is not to compare yourself to big channels or big YouTubers, but to people who have the same type of channel as you, that is to say the same level. It might be interesting to see if they have more engagement on their videos, therefore more comments, more likes and more views.

Conclusion

In this article, we discussed the 3 tools you can use to see your competitors' channel stats on YouTube.

Indeed, going to spy on information on other channels or videos from time to time will allow you to have new ideas and new techniques to use. It is not a question here of exactly copying the content of these channels, but of drawing inspiration from the information you have collected on them to improve yourself.

These three tools are Social Blade, vidIQ and TubeBuddy.

All you have to do is use them, if you don't already, to give your channel a boost!
